Lonesomeness

On Lonely days I need to remember that I can change that up.
I can distract myself from Lonely by doing things for others.
By praying, by walking, by educating myself about something.
By working more. By writing letters to those who would like
to receive them.

Truth be told, most often the times of by myself are a retreat & delight;
 a simmering down into peace & rest. Lonely almost always
strikes me deepest when I am in the midst of the friendly bustle of people:

- riding the train, bus or plane with no one to sleep on beside me
- walking down sidewalks with hands swinging empty
- looking around me at the church that I commit to

I can walk through & in & with Loneliness.
I do not have to feel It's heavy weight so fully (though still present)
if I but choose to be alright with It's company as I go about
loving & serving
giving out & working hard.
