My friend Chris nails it almost everytime.
Today being no exception.
The simple encouragement of one person's 'come through' in spite of procrastination.
Makes me think of that cold, cold night in Philly.
As I floundered my way to the correct bus stop in my little dancing dress and thin leggings
the woman crouched by a building still caught me as her voice struck out against the bite of the cold.
"I'm cold! And I'm hungry! Somebody help me!"
I walked on. And later, much later, as I pawed through my bag for the phone
I saw the granola bar and bag of trail mix.
A staple & reserve for times of hunger.
There one was and I came short of feeding that hunger, of giving my scarf.
But it must be like Chris says, chance will come again; need will rise up in front of me.
So with granola bars, trail mix, candy, & a spare orange or two tucked in with an extra scarf & mittens*
I will be ready.
*I said 'bag', not 'purse' - I have neck pain as a direct outcome of my bag size (sigh)
